Summer Experience Day
Join us for a full day of focused musical development at the Kirklees Guitar School Summer Experience Day.
Designed for developing guitarists, the event combines practical ensemble playing, songwriting, and blues-based guitar workshops in an engaging small-group format.

Saturday 25th July
10AM - 4PM

Band Workshop
With George Loveridge
This band workshop is designed to develop the core skills needed to play confidently with other musicians in a live group environment.
Participants will work on timing, communication, teamwork, and musical awareness while learning how different instruments and guitar parts work together within a band setting.
The session will explore how riffs, chords, rhythm playing, melody lines, and dynamics combine to create a tight and engaging performance.
Songwriting Workshop
With Andrew Beal
This creative songwriting workshop focuses on breaking down the process of writing original music into practical and approachable steps.
Participants will explore how songs are structured, where ideas come from, and how melody, lyrics, chords, and rhythm work together to create memorable songs. Whether you’ve written music before or are completely new to songwriting, the session is designed to encourage creativity, build confidence, and provide a clearer understanding of how songs are developed.
An Introduction To The Blues
With James Kuhnel
This workshop explores the fundamentals of blues guitar and why the blues remains one of the most important foundations for modern guitar playing.
Participants will learn about the structure and feel of the 12-bar blues, the history and roots of the genre, and concepts such as call and response, phrasing, and improvisation.
The session will also demonstrate how blues vocabulary and improvisational ideas can be applied across countless other musical styles, making it an essential area of study for any guitarist looking to improve.

I came away feeling inspired, motivated, and with a much better understanding of how to progress. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to push their playing forward.
Steve Oleary
I have no hesitation in recommending the school. I started on the beginner course and the amount of guitar songs and techniques we have covered is amazing. We move along at a good steady pace and always recap what we've learnt before moving on.
Chris Oldroyd
I had an absolutely fantastic day at the blues rock improvisation workshop with James Kuhnel at Kirklees Guitar School. The facilities were excellent and created the perfect environment to relax and really focus on playing.
